A carry-on is the single most-used piece of luggage most people own, so it is the one worth getting right. The good news is that it is also the easiest to choose objectively: a carry-on lives or dies on four numbers — its outer dimensions against the airline sizer, its empty weight, its usable packing capacity, and its price — and every one of those is published or measurable before you spend a cent.
